The Christmas food shopping was done in town first thing yesterday and we only forgot the Blue Stilton and Toblerone. Once it was all put away, I settled down to present wrapping.
Not including a break for a chip supper, and a trip to the supermarket nearby for the Blue Stilton, Toblerone and yet another roll of sellotape, it took nine hours. Nine back breaking hours.
It started off quite well, with tinsel ties and decorations and neat handwriting.
But enthusiasm soon waned and some presents will need to be opened in very subdued lighting.
I tend to use different wrapping paper for each person (there aren't many people to buy for but I buy quite a lot for each person) but discovered I'd used the same for two people. Hopefully, the Girlie's betrothed will be happy with any 'intended for aged aunt' gifts which come his way.
Whilst I was wrapping, the mister was fixing the lights on the outside tree. This was after I'd suggested we have it chopped down if it was not decorated for a second year, snow having intervened last year. (Well, it's an otherwise not particularly attractive conifer that hinders the rear view when reversing off the drive.)
Today was designated cleaning day.
And here I am sitting at the laptop.
Best place for you, I think, given the alternatives you have on offer. Have a lovely Christmas - I'd be happy to get one of those presents for the wrapping paper alone!

I was at the supermarket at 8 this morning, then piddling around instead of cleaning... what the heck!

Yes, we're on wrapping today. I'm just taking a little break. In our big last minute shopping this morning I forgot to buy any plain flour, so can't make mince pies til we go out again. The rain is persisting down here, so it may have to wait until tomorrow.
Happy Christmas!

Hello Liz, I've been lurking here for a very long time......just enjoying your posts and loving the fact that whilst most people I follow are in far away locations you are just down the road and post pictures of places I know and love!
If it's any consolation to you at all - we did our food shopping today, but most of it is still on the side waiting to be put away, I have not yet made a Christmas cake or mince pies or sausage rolls - all staples here at Christmas, and I have wrapped nothing for the DH who is the only other person here at Christmas......and the house also needs a clean....
.....and I too am here at my laptop.........but hey - I would normally be at work today, so keep thinking of it as a 'bonus day' !!! And at least I actually have presents to wrap - even if I'm not now sure I have enough paper, which anyway is nothing like as pretty as yours!
All the best for a fabulous Christmas,
Lynne

Cleaning day tomorrow here. I finished the last of the wrapping this morning; usually I stay up Reeeeeallly Laaaate but this year I set my alarm early and had three joyful mornings of peace watching rubbishy breakfast telly and drinking my coffee in peace. Of course, now I am shattered and ready for bed ...

I'm trusting that everyone will be too busy sprinkling crumbs and nutshells to notice the state of our house .
I hope you all have a wonderful time and that you , too , receive a mountain of beautifully wrapped presents ....
Merry Christmas !!
