At long last we have a Christmas tree, chosen and sawn down by us (by that I mean I chose and the Husband did the business with the saw) last Saturday. It was then dressed with our ever increasing collection of bits and bobs on Sunday night and finished off with some mini candy canes tonight. This is one of my favourite decorations. She's all soft and squidgy and never fails to raise a smile when she makes her annual appearance. We have another fairy, Gillian, who sits at the top of the tree.
This glass decoration I bought in New York a couple of weeks ago. It's a pity the Christmas shop has disappeared from Rockefeller Plaza as quite a few bits in the collection, including a pink poodle, came from there.
Santa takes his usual place on the mantlepiece. He became part of the collection many years ago and is made from paper.
Now it's a case of trying to keep the dog away from the tree (a wagging Dalmatian tail can be lethal) and getting on with the rest of Christmas preparations. I keep telling myself it will all come together in time!
