There was a birthday.
But I forgot.
Yes, love those cupcakes was two years old in August.
Realising how long I've been at this blogging lark got me thinking about why I started in the first place and what keeps me doing it. And I'd have to say I'm not sure. I certainly don't blog to sell something. I don't blog to change the world. I don't blog to get a book published. I don't blog to influence people. I didn't set out to keep a diary. It's not my way of communicating with relatives and friends. So why?
Hmmm. I'd be the first to admit I'm a bit nosey (as in a people fascinate me kind of way) and starting off by reading lots of blogs before launching my own opened the curtains on so many lives being lived in different ways. I also like to talk (could talk for England given half a chance) and blogging lets me join in a whole range of conversations.
As for writing love those cupcakes, it's sort of like inviting you into my home for a cosy natter over a cup of tea, letting me ramble on about whatever takes my fancy and letting you know what I've been up to. And, whilst I'll never have the blog equivalent of a houseful, the company of those who read what I post, who take the time to leave comments and send e-mails, who keep popping back, is always so very welcome.
But maybe A. A. Milne should have the last word on possible reasons why I keep blogging :
"When
you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and Think of Things, you
find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside
you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has
other people looking at it".
From The House at Pooh Corner
That's exactly it!
Of course, it wouldn't be a birthday without presents so I've put together some of my favourites as a celebratory giveaway:
- I do love books and reading, even if my output is much diminished these days, and I've included a copy of a novel I read recently and can highly recommend, "The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox" by Maggie O' Farrell.
- As you've probably worked out, baking cakes and biscuits is my "thing" and I found this little cookie tin with cutters and recipes.
- I can never have enough candles around the house and this one in a tin should be perfect for capturing those last scents of summer.
- I'm addicted to notebooks (big ones, little ones, notebooks for my bag, notebooks for work, notebooks for everything) so I've included a Moleskine with lots of blank pages to fill.
- I love cards and like to make them every now and again so I've put together a little set.
- There had to be some tea. Wild Berry sounds good.
- And, no question, chocolate was a must.
So, just leave a comment on this post (maybe about why you blog or what keeps you blogging) by next Saturday, 19th September, if you'd like to win the goodies and I'll randomly select a winner soon after.
