- It started with the weekly supermarket shop on Friday night (why, when I start out by saying "we don't need much", do we end up paying more than 120 quid?) and an easy supper afterwards of takeaway pizzas.
- With the Boy at his Saturday job and the Mister at the match (the result was a rare win for his team) I decided to tackle cleaning and sorting the fridge, a job I've been putting off for quite a while. Actually, I'm rather good at putting off most household tasks. It turned out to be not so bad with no real nasties lurking at the back of the shelves or in the drawers and it's now all sparkling and orderly. It's the freezer's turn next.
- Saturday's supper involved trying a new recipe from Yotam Ottolenghi's fabulous book, Plenty, which was a birthday present last year.
The green pancakes (spinach based) with lime butter went down a treat with sweet potato spicy wedges and slices of plain grilled Halloumi and there are lots more recipes in the book I fancy trying.
- There was a bit of supermoon gawping from the back garden on Saturday night though it was very hazy and the couple of photographs I took are rubbish.
- I started a new bedtime read, a novel set in 1930's Alabama and based on real events of the time, the trials of the Scottsboro Boys that followed allegations of an horrific crime which was never actually committed. This is a very well written book which has had me reading into the wee small hours.
- This morning at the beach, with the tide out and a vast expanse of sand to run along, the Boo had his first taste of being outdoors OFF THE LEAD. He's four and a half months old now and we agreed it was time to let him experience "flying solo". So, with some trepidation and crossing of fingers, the lead was removed.
(Warning: If you don't like dogs or sand, you'd best look away now).
Boo had an absolute whale of a time.
Even the horses galloping past didn't faze him.
There were no scary moments and he was surprisngly good at coming back when called. We were so chuffed we celebrated with a couple of cappuccinos at our favourite beachfront cafe.
Back home, Boo spent the afternoon in the land of nod and I pottered about in the kitchen making sunflower topped bread, a very tasty butternut squash soup and chocolate topped cakes. Not that I'll be eating any of the latter, you understand.
