I've given up all things sweet (excluding fruit) for Lent but the other two here haven't. So, with an empty cake tin and a bowl of lemons begging to be used, I turned to a favourite cookbook this afternoon...
...for a tried and tested (as evidenced by the splashes on the page) recipe.
This uses the "throw it all in the bowl and mix" method with an easy no-cook syrup to spread over the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
And if you're wondering, I can resist a freshly baked cake.
No, really, I can.
