A lazy, largely book dominated day.
I finished the current book at bedtime this morning (on the sofa, not in bed) and spent some time choosing the next one from the to be read pile. Not too far into it yet, but I'm not at all sure it's my sort of thing.
There was some browsing of one of my Nigel Slater endorsed Christmas books this afternoon and wondering, with that 'I only put on half a pound over the festive season' smugness, which calorie laden recipe to try first.
Maybe a New York cheesecake to please everyone in this family, bar me. I can't abide cheesecake.
Or a lemon polenta cake. This would make a change from our usual lemon drizzles.
But then I'm very partial to chocolate. And tiramisu. So I'd like to give this tiramisu torte, apparently the writer's tribute to the River Cafe's chocolate nemesis cake, whatever that might be, a go some time. Probably for a special occasion, looking at the ingredients list. There's even a tub of those silver coated chocolate decorations in one of our kitchen cupboards.
I'm even more partial to Christmas cake.
This was the last slice of ours, eaten in true northern style, with the last of a piece of very creamy white Stilton on the side.
