Seems the parsnips mentioned in the previous post worked as my bake won a prize (which turned out to be a hessian bag full of goodies including a couple of bottles of vino and chocolate).
There's no photograph of the competitor in all its iced glory as I forgot to take a snap before dropping it off for judging. But it consisted of two layers of a sort of parsnip/chocolate/ walnut/spice cake, sandwiched with homemade lime curd and topped off with a lime flavoured buttercream. There was no trial run, I just made it up (dollop of this, shake of that) as I went along so it's highly unlikely I could reproduce it.
How about a picture of today's lunch instead?
Vegan (just for me, the others here prefer Nigella's) pancakes. Not as pretty as conventional pancakes but so much tastier than last year's offering. Probably not prizewinning, though.
